We have been working on the Karlštejn–Beroun section of the line at Metroprojekt since 2011. Implementation began at the end of 2023 and was officially completed this December.
What is so special about it?
▪️ 17 rehabilitated rock faces, which are being disrupted by rockfoil
▪️ The unusual Srbsko stop, where architecture meets interesting technical solutions
▪️ Corten shelters referring to the industrial history of the village
▪️ A replica of an Art Nouveau waiting room from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, now the village's tourist information center
▪️ Platforms made of light-colored asphalt, clean and simple, for it's implementation it was necessary to minimize cable duct covers and drainage
At first glance, it might seem that this project mainly involved the architecture of a single station and working with rock. However, the reality is quite different. The project involved the construction of 7 km of double-track railway, a new junction to Lom, built on hundreds of meters of retaining walls, and 19 new culverts. The construction was complicated by flooding of the Berounka River, the discovery of over 100-year-old fortifications along the railway line, and the strict conditions imposed by the Český kras Protected Landscape Area.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in this exceptional project!
