Today, a statue of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, was ceremonially placed at the access tunnel of the Nové Dvory metro D station currently under construction. The blessing was performed by František Čech, priest of the Roman Catholic parish at the Church of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, in Prague-Lhotka.
This symbolic act marked the start of tunnelling work on the Nové Dvory station, which will be the largest station on the section of Metro Line D (ID1b) currently under construction, running from Olbrachtova (excluded) to Nové Dvory (included). The excavation area here will exceed 300 m².
The section under construction also includes the Nádraží Krč and Nemocnice Krč stations.
