On May 26, 2026, at the Hostivice railway station, in the presence of Minister of Transport Ivan Bednárik and SŽ Director Tomáš Tóth, a ceremony was held to launch the start of construction on the modernization of the longest section of the branch line between Prague and Kladno.
The 15-kilometer section between the Praha-Ruzyně and Kladno stations will undergo a complete reconstruction, double-tracking, and, in the future, electrification. The maximum speed will increase to 145 km/h, and travel times will be reduced by approximately 4 minutes depending on the type of service; most of the construction will take place on realignments, which will allow for higher speeds.
The modernized line is expected to open at the end of 2029.
