Currently, the construction of a new tram line on Wenceslas Square and by the National Museum is underway, having been officially launched on June 12, 2025. This involves the construction of a new tram line, including stops, overhead lines, and track cables. At the same time, the necessary section of the existing Škrétova – Vinohradská tram line, to which the new line connects, will be reconstructed, including the existing Muzeum stop.

The tram line from Wenceslas Square will pass between the historic and new buildings of the National Museum and continue along Vinohradská Street. The construction of the new tram line will further improve public transport services between Vinohrady quarter and the city center.

Along with the line, a new pedestrian promenade with greenery, benches, and water features will also be created. A technical innovation will be the installation of illuminated safety strips in the lowered edges of sidewalks and traffic islands, which will alert pedestrians to the approach of a tram. The project also includes the reconstruction of public lighting and the use of the space left by the demolished underpass under Legerova Street for the construction of facilities for a gardening company, which will significantly improve the care of urban greenery in this area.

🌳💦 Work is in full swing and completion is planned for 2027.
