Barrier-free access to the Strašnická Metro Station on Line A of the Prague Metro

Charakteristika

A design for a new barrier-free entrance at the northwest end of the station, accessible from the inner courtyard of Mrštíkova Street, where a cascade of two passenger elevators will be placed.

In the center of the inner courtyard, a new glass-enclosed entrance to the Strašnická metro station has been designed, featuring barrier-free pedestrian access from Mrštíkova Street with connections to the surrounding roads and surface-level bus and tram services. The courtyard is complemented by landscaping featuring elements of urban architecture.

The existing metro tunnel, which already had prepared passages in the concrete structure, was selected as the location. The route includes two 3-meter-wide double-run staircases and two pass-hrough elevators arranged in a cascade, with a cabin size of 1.1 × 2.4 meters, a capacity of 1,150 kg (15 people), and a speed of 1.0 m/s. The elevator shafts are partially faced with natural stone and partially glazed. At the transfer level, the entrance is equipped with a pressure-sealed, airtight sliding door for the passageway as part of the metro station’s security system.
