Charakteristika
The construction RS 4 VRT, also known as Podřipsko VRT, is largely a new construction of a double-track electrified high-speed line with a length cca 51 km. It is connected to the existing railway infrastructure at the railway junction Prague - Balabenka and in front of the Oleško stop on the IV railway transit corridor. The construction also includes a VRT terminal near Roudnice nad Labem.
The aim of the construction is to meet future domestic and cross-border transport demand between Prague - Ústí nad Labem and Dresden for the passenger and partly freight transport segment. The completed high-speed line from Prague to Dresden will significantly speed up the travel to Germany and improve transport accessibility in northern Bohemia. At a maximum operating speed of 320 km/h, the travel time from Prague to Dresden will be 58 minutes after the completion of the entire VRT. The new construction of the line itself lies on the territory of three regions, namely the Capital of Prague, the Central Bohemian and Ústí nad Labem regions. VRT also includes the complete reconstruction and modernization of the Balabenka junction to suit the VRT future plans in the Prague junction.
