Charakteristika
The project is a part of the Kolín–Všetaty–Děčín line, which is a core TEN-T network for freight transport and also for a passenger transport global network, in accordance with Regulation No. 1315/2013. The proposed project involves the complete modernization of the above mentioned rail section, which is part of the Kolín–Děčín line—known as the “right-bank line”— that is primarily important for freight transport.
The project under the development can be divided into three sections based on its nature.
The first section, Kolín (excl.) – Libice nad Cidlinou (excl.), follows the existing route alignment, with no realignments, and remains a double-track line.
The second section, Libice nad Cidlinou (inclusive) – Babín junction (exclusive), involves the proposed conversion of the existing double-track line to triple track. Here, the impacts of the triple-tracking (widening of the track bed, associated road modifications, and, above all, the replacement of the removed at-grade crossings with new roads) will be significant.
The third section of the project involves the construction of a new line, the so-called Libice Connector, which, in the area of the cadastral districts of Libice nad Cidlinou and Kanín, directly connects Hradec Králové with Prague without a detour via Velký Osek.
