Optimization of Beroun-Zbiroh Railway Line

characteristic

The optimization works on this section include a complete reconstruction of the superstructure, strengthening or reconstruction of the subgrade, including bridges and viaducts, reconstruction of the drainage system, renewal of traction lines, modernization of traction transformer sub-station and switching station, the railway and station safety equipment and controlling and communication equipment. At several sites the existing controlling line was replaced by better line relocation with directional ratios in order to achieve higher line speed. The total length of the sections in the new track is 7510 meters. A new tunnel in length 324 m was constructed from an open construction pit as a part of the line relocation. Complete reconstruction concerns all the stops and stations. New platforms with an edge of 550 mm above rail level will be established and at the new island platforms at the railway stations Zdice and Hořovice was established grade separated access through subway. Noise walls in total length of 6,442 meters were set up in order to reduce the impact of railway traffic on the environment.
